AVANTIKA EXPRESS will arrive on time from Mumbai as rail traffic resumed on the Mumbai central-Virar railway track today. However, the return trains 2962 Indore-Mumbai Central Avantika Express and 2956 Jaipur-Mumbai Central Super-fast Express were terminated from Indore and Jaipur respectively due to unavailability of tracks today. The situation resulted from the serial bomb blasts in local trains belonging to Western Railway servicing Mumbai yesterday.
According to Western Railway (Ratlam division) Public Relations Officer (indoor) NK David, the railways was not only concerned about the well-being of passengers but also their welfare as was evident in the setting up of centres for refunding money to passengers having a valid ticket.
The divisional headquarters has opened two additional counters for the purpose in Indore and one each in Ujjain and Ratlam. Apart from the said trains 90233 Mumbai Central-Ferozepur Janta Express was also cancelled today.
As a result of this cancellation 9024 Janta Express starting from Ferozepur on July 14 will also remain cancelled and will not arrive in the Ratlam division on July 15. The Awadh Express starting from Gorakhpur will remain cancelled and will not traverse its scheduled route via Nagda-Ratlam on July 15.
Meanwhile, heightened security measures adopted by the railways after the blasts were felt here also. Railway police personnel checked all trains passing through the station and frisked anyone on the least suspicion if found loitering on the platform.
