Rain douses Holika flames

HOLI REVELLERS may have been initially taken aback by the morning drizzle this time but inclement weather could hardly dampen their spirits. Though some of them waited for the sky to clear others plunged themselves into colours without caring for the slightly cool weather. On the other hand those a bit careful for their health waited till afternoon to venture out to be part of the different groups playing Holi in their areas.

The only effect rain appeared to have was on 'Holika' put up at different intersection in the city. Hardly had the people returned home after lighting the wood when it started pouring this time. As a result flames were doused even before the wood could turn into ashes.

However, mothers remained a bit worried for the smaller kids as they wanted them not to become victim of cold and fever due to drenching in water colours.

District administration's constant appeal over the years to citizens for toning down the sound level of loudspeakers appeared to have had some sobering effect. People by and large it appears have now begun to understand the havoc noise pollution wreaks into our lives. Though loudspeakers as usual were mounted by people but they were careful not to exceed the decibel limit.
