Inconveniences and disasters, however, accompanied the rains as one died in a wall collapse in Mulund Colony.

Jogendra Prajapati (37) died on the spot after a12-ft high compound wall of the Lotus building collapsed on Saturday afternoon. As the two-decade-old wall crumpled, Rajendra Yadav (32), who was passing by, also got injured.

“The remaining dangerous portion of the wall and debris also has been cleared immediately,” said Manik Shirsagar, Assistant Commissioner, T Ward Office.

Suburban train services on the Central Railway were affected due to waterlogging in the morning between 9 and 11 am delaying the services by 25-30 minutes during the peak hours.

It rained nearly 35 mm in Mulund and the area nearby Gawanpada and 17.5 mm in Dahisar.

Areas under the jurisdiction of the Thane civic body received 91 mm average rainfall from 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
