Intermittent rains continued in Kashmir for the second day on Tuesday even as the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg experienced 12 inches of fresh snowfall, with the MeT department saying that the prevailing western disturbances would continue to affect the state till February 24.
Gulmarg recorded the minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, compared to minus 2 degrees Celsius of Monday.
While Gulmarg received snowfall, other parts of the Valley were lashed with rains which continued till Tuesday.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, received 13.8 mm of rains and recorded a low of 3.9 degrees Celsius, down by nearly a degree from 4.8 degrees Celsius the previous night, the spokesman said.
The mercury in Pahalgam which serves as the base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra, settled at a low of 1.2 degrees Celsius against 0.4 degree Celsius on Monday, the spokesman said.
The resort recorded 20.4 mm of rainfall.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded a low of 3.6 degrees Celsius, compared to 3.2 degrees Celsius the previous night, he said, adding 5 mm rains were recorded in the city.
The spokesman said Kokernag, registered the minimum temperature of 2.5 degrees Celsius - over a degree down from the previous night's 3.6 degrees Celsius and the town received 7.2 mm of rainfall.

He said the nearby Kargil town registered the minimum temperature of minus 8 degrees Celsius and was the coldest recorded place in the state.
The MeT department said the western disturbances that are persisting over Jammu and Kashmir is likely to affect the state till February 24 with occasional gaps.
Under the influence of this weather system, moderate rains or thundershowers and snowfall over higher reaches would occur at most places in Kashmir and Jammu divisions and at many places of Ladakh region.
Some places may receive heavy rains and snow during this period and these weather conditions may trigger landslides and avalanche in vulnerable areas of the state, the department said.
It said the weather system may disrupt surface and air transport during these days there would be significant decrease in day temperatures and slight rise in night temperatures.
Authorities in the Valley on Monday issued an avalanche warning in the vulnerable areas in view of the weather forecast.
However, the Srinagar-Jammu national highway remained open for one-way traffic.
Divisional commissioner Kashmir, Rohit Kansal has asked the divisional administration to gear up men and machinery to tackle any eventuality which may arise due to the weather.
