UNSEASONAL RAINS and hailstorm, caused due to the westerly disturbances, continued to lash various parts of the State on Monday causing extensive damage to crops even as the death roll in lightning rose to nine with three more deaths reported from Seopur and Shivpuri districts and injuries to eight in Rewa district on Sunday.
Chief minister Shivraj Singh has directed the officials to undertake survey of the damage and disbursement of immediate relief to the people in the affected areas.
According to official reports, one death occurred in village Tillipura in Sheopur district and two in Shivpuri district due to lightning. Three cattle head perished in Sheopur and one in Shivpuri district, it said. Eight persons sustained injuries in Rewa districts.
The reports said, crops have been damaged in 15 villages of Vijaypur tehsil and 17 villages in Karahal tehsil of Sheopur district. In Morena district, minor damage has been reported in 10 villages while crops have been adversely affected in 169 villages of Bhind district.
In Rewa district 60 to 70 villages, in Satna district 30 to 40 villages, in Shahadol district 10 to 12 villages and in Sidhi district 15 to 20 villages have suffered crop loss. Crops in about 900 hectare area of 18 villages in Shajapur district have been damaged while in Mandsaur district mild damage has been reported from Garoth and Mandsaur tehsils, it said.

As many as 17 villages in Chachoda tehsil and four villages of Bamori tehsil of Guna district have reported crop loss. Minor damage has been reported from Bhander tehsil of Datia district and Nateran tehsil of Vidisha district, the report said.

{{/usCountry}}According to a Jabalpur report, hailstorm on Sunday night has affected crops in over 30 villages of the districts. In some 9 villages of Patan and Jabalpur sub divisions of the district, the damage was over 25 per cent.
Wheat, chana, masoor and sarson crops in more than 40 villages including Bada Malhera, Gaurihar, Harpalpur and Bijawar have been extensively damaged, officials said. Jabalpur experienced a maximum rainfall of 19.2 mm, while Satna received 17.2 mm, Bhopal 16.2 mm and Morena 10.5 mm, Met department said. Rain accompanied with thunder is expected in almost all parts of the state, the department forecast.
Hailstorm is forecast in Ujjain, Indore, Gwalior, Bhopal and Hoshangabad divisions in next 24 hours, it said.
