Heavy rains continued to lash Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat on Tuesday, leading to loss of lives and property even as state governments ordered rescue operations.
Thousands of people have been evacuated while the state authorities remained on high alert.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday directed officials to ensure faster rescue and relief efforts in flood-hit Godavari districts.
Naidu reviewed the situation through a video-conference with collectors of East Godavari and West Godavari districts. He asked them to distribute ten kilograms of rice to each flood-hit family. One fisherman is suspected to have got washed away in the flood in West Godavari district while four villages remained marooned.
In East Godavari district, a cause-way was breached, inundating 24 nearby villages. Meanwhile, several low lying areas in Himachal Pradesh were inundated due to the persistence of heavy downpour.
Two people were washed away in Swan River in Una district but one of them was rescued while other was missing, reports said. The local MeT office has predicted light rains at isolated places during next 48 hours and mainly dry weather during next four days in the region.

{{/usCountry}}In the wake of the downpour in the last two days, Gujarat chief minister Anandi Patel cancelled her public rally which was scheduled for the forthcoming bypolls for Vadodara Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday.
She also held a high-level meeting in Gandhinagar to review the situation and plan further action.
