The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has taken up the rainwater harvesting (RWH) project in the city on priority basis, inviting experts for suggestions.
The authority has also invited suggestions from various residents’ welfare associations (RWAs) for the project implementation in their respective areas.
Huda administrator Praveen Kumar, who had earlier held four meetings with officials of the MCG, PWD and other concerned departments, held a meeting with professors and students of Management Development Institute (MDI) on the matter on Saturday.
“His focus is on technicalities of the projects as most of the RWH structures are either defunct or choked. These structures had not been constructed with the help of technical experts and have resulted into waste of money,” said a professor of the MDI, adding that the project needs thorough study of topography of the district.
The Huda administrator asked MDI students to visit various sectors and catchment areas like natural drainages in the Aravallis and ponds and develop a plan accordingly.
“These natural sources can be revived and developed as rain water harvesting system,” said Kumar, while discussing with them about the basic aspects and standards of government intention in this regard.
The administrator has asked the irrigation authorities to take the students to Aravalli sites and brief them about old drainages at Ghata — a village where an old dam still exists.

{{/usCountry}}“We are also taking care of all city roads and parks in the sectors and other areas where this project can be executed,” said Kumar.
