The weatherman says Wednesday would see scattered and brief spells of rain. More specific: wet and filthy roads, drenched clothes and a gloomy day. In short, a damp Holi this year.
As if the ongoing school examinations were not enough, the showers over the past week has sure made it bad for those planning to hit the roads with colours, especially the children.
"My exams are on and the rain means playing with coloured water is out," says Suryansh Chaudhary, a school student. Most of the children complain their parents do not let them play with water during exams — though not without a reason.
"The weather's good, but doesn't quite feel like Holi," says Puneet Sharma, who lives in South Extension.
There are others, however, like south Delhi residents Vineet Deva and Amit Mamgain, who won't let anything dampen their Holi spirits, not even rain. "The change in weather is quite welcome. The overcast skies and the cool weather are perfect for drinking," says Amit. He makes it clearer: drinking bhang.
The city received 7.2 mm of rain on Tuesday bringing down the day's temperature by 7 degree celsius to 22.8 degree C. The slight chill in the air meant that many had to pull out their recently mothballed woollies that had been packed away.
