The country witnessed widespread rainfall on Monday with heavy showers in the national capital. The Jammu-Srinagar highway was closed after heavy snowfall and landslides were reported in Jammu and Kashmir.
People in Delhi woke up to a rainy morning with the minimum temperature recorded at 14.8 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average. The Met Office has forecast more rain and an overcast day ahead.
"Till Monday 5.30am, Delhi received 56.8mm rainfall. It is likely to rain more. The day ahead is also likely to be overcast," said an official of the India Meteorological Department. Delhi's adjoining areas, such as Gurgaon and Ghaziabad, have also been receiving rainfall for the past 24 hours, the Met Office said.
"12th class board exams today. Best wishes to all students. Massive traffic jams due to rains. Leave ur house early…Traffic police, pl clear traffic jams. AAP volunteers, pl help traffic police, wherever possible," Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted on Monday morning.

While a fresh western disturbance is affecting the hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, a cyclonic circulation is causing rain in Haryana, Rajasthan, and adjoining areas. Moreover, another system is affecting Gujarat and adjoining areas of Rajasthan," skymetweather.com reported.
