The State Government, however, would have to route the proposal through the Custodian of Enemy Property in Mumbai to the erstwhile Raja of Mahmudabad Mohd Amir Mohd Khan. The decision has been conveyed to Custodian of Enemy Property Dinesh Singh, by Khan’s legal counsel Anjali K Verma through a letter.

On August 7, Singh had reportedly communicated the problem in handing over the land/properties located in Mahmudabad, Sitapur on which government offices and public utility enterprises like a polytechnic, a degree college, a cooperative handloom and two sugar mill have come up.

Verma in her communiqué dated August 8, pointed out that the “so-called public utility enterprises” were set up with the approval and concern of your office, which does not bind our client, who is entitled to compliance of the Supreme Court order qua the property of his late father. “The State of UP may forward its proposal, if any, only through you regarding the same for consideration immediately and not later than seven days from the receipt of this letter,” she said. A list of 20 important urban properties of Raja Mohammed Amir Mohd Khan has also been enclosed with the letter, a copy of which has also been marked to Principal Secretary, Revenue, Director, Department of Commerce and the District Magistrates of Lucknow, Sitapur, Barabanki and Lakhimpur Kheri.
