Rajasthan Police on Saturday moved an application seeking custody of kidney scam kingpin Dr Amit Kumar in connection with a case that was registered in 1995 near Jaipur.

On February 22, the CBI special magistrate had sent Dr Amit to judicial custody for 14 days and he has been lodged at the Central Jail here.

After exposure of the multi-crore kidney scam, an FIR was registered at Gurgaon on January 27. Dr Amit had escaped to Nepal.

He was nabbed on February 6 on Indo-Nepal border and was repatriated to India on February 10 where a Delhi court remanded him to CBI custody for 12 days.

Sources said after the Jaipur court issued production warrants for the fugitive doctor, the Rajasthan Police moved an application, which was forwarded, to the Central Jail by Judicial Magistrate Mahavir Parshad.

Sources informed that the application reads that the accused is wanted in a similar case and is to be produced in the court there on February 25.

They said, on the complaint of a villager, a case was registered against Dr Amit in 1995 at Sandola police station.
