"The polling for the four phases held so far has been peaceful and incident free and for this the Commission deserves praise," he said after casting his vote at a polling centre in Lucknow.

Singh claimed that the BJP would secure an absolute majority in the assembly polls as there was an "undercurrent in favour of the party".

He said two Chief Ministerial candidates, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati, were facing CBI investigation on the directions of the Supreme Court while the BJP nominee for the post Kalyan Singh had a clean image.

"The people of the state do not want to be led by some one who has a tainted image," he said.

Singh was accompanied by his wife Savitri Singh.
