Rajnath reaches out to Mamata

BJP CHIEF Rajnath Singh hasn?t given up on Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee despite her lukewarm ties with the NDA. So on Monday, he shared the dais with the Trinamool chief, changing the new equations in Bengal?s Opposition politics in one stroke. He skipped a meeting with President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on the situation in Uttar Pradesh to express solidarity with Mamata on the Singur issue.

BJP CHIEF Rajnath Singh hasn’t given up on Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee despite her lukewarm ties with the NDA. So on Monday, he shared the dais with the Trinamool chief, changing the new equations in Bengal’s Opposition politics in one stroke. He skipped a meeting with President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on the situation in Uttar Pradesh to express solidarity with Mamata on the Singur issue.

Rajnath announced that his party would back Mamata’s campaign against the acquisition of farmland for the Tata Motors’ project in Singur and that he would join the agitation there. "Land can be acquired for industrialisation, we are not opposed to that. But we are against the acquisition of prime agricultural land," Rajnath said before leaving for Kolkata.
