So what if Tapur Chatterjee is the grand-daughter of the legendary Hrishikesh Mukherjee – she isn't serious about films. "There are no roles that inspire me. Anyway, for over five years I've only concentrated on the ramp. Parallel cinema offers infinite possibilities, though," she says.
Life has never been the same ever since she won the Navy Ball in Jamnagar (Gujarat) as a school student. "My twin sister Tupur (12 minutes younger than her) also took part but I won. That's when I decided to make a career out of it," says Tapur.
Having studied commercial art at Mumbai's Rachna Sansad, she hopes to give product designing a shot once she's off the ramp. "Poster designing (for which she has own the President's Award) and print ads appeal to me and I may take up advertising as a profession," she says.
While Tupur has a 'speak-your-mind' attitude, Tapur is introspective. "People say modelling is a vicious profession but I can easily disconnect once a show is over," she says. The 5'8" Tapur, who weighs 53 kilos, rarely works out. "I never control my diet – in fact I gorge on desserts and pizzas. I guess it's hereditary – mom has maintained herself too," she says.
She admits people try to instigate her against Tupur, given that they are in the same profession. "I guess Tupur and I have a successful working relationship," concludes Tapur.
