The trouble sparked off following the scuffle between the Sena and Congress workers during a “Road Show” of the PCC chief Prabha Rau, Rane and the Congress nominee, Mohite that was passing through the Sena office there. The police had to resort to lathi charge for dispersing the erring mob.

Ramesh Mishra of Sena alleged that some people from the Congress rally pelted stones at the office of the Sena and its supporters. The mob, which was instigated, by Rane and Mohite also stormed the office and smashed the furniture of the office.

The frenzy mob even beat up several Sena workers in, which two were injured critically. They were identified as: Anna Warghat and Anil Bansod. The Sena workers at Katol immediately forced locals to close down their shops in protest against the incident, he added.

However, Rane dismissed the Sena charges. Instead, a group of Sena activists, who gathered there, were trying disrupting the Congress Road Show by pelting stones at it. “We are planning to lodge complaint against them,” he further said.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Yashashri Yadav, the superintendent of police (SP) Nagpur district, admitted that the police had lodged complaint against Rane and Mohite on the basis of a complain. “We have not arrested any one so far. An appropriate action will be taken after an investigation,” he said and claimed that the situation at Katol was totally under control.

Meanwhile, the campaigning for the by-election of Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency came to a close on Saturday with the Congress, the Sena and the Congress rebel, Ranjit Deshmukh organising impressive road shows.
