The meeting at Kamgar Maidan in central Mumbai on Sunday evening has been organised by Swabhimaan, an NGO set up by Rane's younger son Nitesh.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Nitesh said the rally is being organised to mark the NGO's third anniversary and his father would address the supporters chalking out future course of action for Swabhimaan and on the prevailing political situation in the state.

"Actually, we wanted to hold the rally on Dassera (October 9) but, we felt the political atmosphere will be charged up after the festivities and hence the date of October 12 was chosen," Nitesh said in a veiled reference to the 'Prahar' launch tomorrow and Shiv Sena's Dassera rally on October 9.

Replying to questions about his political ambitions, Nitesh, the general secretary of Mumbai Youth Congress, said "Swabhimaan is an NGO working for the youth. Politics is the culmination of social work"
