Rape: 10-day trial, 14-yr jail

Amid the nationwide clamour for fast-tracking rape cases, a court of special judge of Khandwa disposed of a rape case on Monday within 10 days of production of the challan.

Amid the nationwide clamour for fast-tracking rape cases, a court of special judge of Khandwa disposed of a rape case on Monday within 10 days of production of the challan.

The court of special judge, Jagdish Baheti gave 14-year imprisonment to Jitendra (22), resident of Bhadani village in Khandwa, for raping one-and-a-half-year-old girl in November last. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000. The chargesheet was filed on January 18 and the court recorded evidences between January 21-24.
