The BSP spokesman said Garg had resigned on Wednesday. The party said: “neither Garg was primary member of the party nor had any thing to do with the BSP”.

Seema Chaudhury, 35, complained that Garg had sexual abused and “blackmail” her.

Aligarh DIG Braj Bhusahn told HT “Garg has been charged with making Seema’s a vulgar CD and blackmailing her.”

The Aligarh police said Seema had lodged a case in 2003 against ASDM O.P. Verma and Circle Officer Bir Singh of raping her. “As no action was taken, Seema approached Garg,” said a police officer. Adding that Seema in the FIR said: “Garg allegedly got her a job in the computer section of the Baghpat SP office.” But she went to Allahabad, but kept meeting Garg on his insistence.
