After widespread public outcry for its directive to employers to avoid deputing women staff after 8pm in the wake of a gang rape case, the Gurgaon police finally took some concrete steps to spruce up security on MG Road.
On Thursday, it introduced an all-women PCR van to cater exclusively to complaints of women. The PCR van, though driven by a male officer, will have 4-5 women police personnel led by an ASI-rank official.
The damage control measures also include setting up of a Task Force Committee to look into offences against women and speedy redressal of complaints.
An additional all-women police picket has also been set up outside Sahara Mall on MG Road which has turned into a crime stretch.
Ten women officers will be deployed here in shifts. Four additional PCRs and four riders (motorcycle beat constables) have also been deployed for this 1.5-km stretch between Iffco Chowk and Sikanderpur on MG Road, said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP (crime), Gurgaon.

{{/usCountry}}The committee will include the DCP of the area, deputy labour commissioner, deputy excise and taxation commissioner, representatives of leading NGOs working in the field of women welfare and representatives of three largest employers of the district.
Also, three women constables will be posted 24x7 in all five Metro stations in Gurgaon — Guru Dronacharya, Sikanderpur, MG Road, Iffco Chowk and Huda City Centre, said Dayal.
