The city police filed the case against the accused seven years after the incident. The 32-year-old victim had moved a court to get a case filed against the accused.

In her complaint, the victim, Geeta (name changed) alleged that Dr Satbir Singh, a resident of Hasanpur village, had raped her for six years. The victim had met the accused in 2005 when he was posted as the BEO and he had helped her get a job as a guest teacher.

Later, the accused got her posted in a school in Mandarka village near Tauru. Singh had assigned a male colleague to pick and drop her as there was no transport facility to the village. When she complained that the colleague was trying to molest her, Singh got her transferred to his office. However, her plight did not end there.

Geeta was intimidated by his threats as she was a divorcee with no other source of income. In 2008, the victim succeeded in getting a transfer to Faridabad but the accused continued to visit her. When she resisted, he threatened to kill her and also started blackmailing her on the basis of stolen documents.

"We have arrested the accused and took him police custody. We are investigating the matter," said a senior police official.

However, the accused denied all charges. "The charges levelled against me are not true. She (Geeta) had demanded Rs. 7 lakh from me but I refused to give her. I had also met the commissioner of police regarding the case. I never got her a job nor was I friendly with her," Singh said.
