The accident took place in front of the Hindu Hostel crossing on Thursday afternoon.

Annoyed over the manner in which the driver was driving the vehicle some passers-by torched the vehicle.

A fire tender had to be called to douse the flames.

Harish Kumar, a resident of Atraila village under Meja police station, had come to court to appear in some case and was on his way home when the tragedy took place. Incidentally, his younger brother Dayashankar was also with him in the vehicle when the tragedy took place. He rushed his brother with serious injuries to the SRN Hospital but he was declared brought dead.

The other occupants of the three-wheeler who also sustained injuries preferred to get themselves treated at private hospitals. The tempo driver whose rash driving caused the death managed to flee after sensing danger.
