Breaking his silence Ruchika’s brother Ashu Girhotra on Thursday demanded that former DGP S.P.S. Rathore be put behind bars.
“I have met the SP and sought a case under 306 of IPC (abetment to suicide) against Rathore,” he said after meeting
Panchkula SP Maneesh Choudhary.
Ashu, along with his father Subhash Girhotra and lawyer Pankaj Bhardwaj, filed a fresh complaint against Rathore.
Appearing before the media for the first time, he spoke of the travails he had undergone due to harassment by Rathore. “I was tortured. Many false cases were filed against me.
My family was harassed. Because of the torture I was subjected to, my sister committed suicide.”
Ashu said he was subjected to third degree torture in police custody and Rathore would oversee it. “My demand is he should be put behind bars.”
The Panchkula SP explained why Rathore or any of the other accused — on Tuesday the Girhotras had filed fresh FIRs against sub-inspector Prem Dutt and two assistant sub-inspectors Sewa Singh and Jai Narayan for falsely booking him — had not been questioned.
“Since the case has been tried at the apex court, we are seeking legal opinion as well as trying to find evidence in the context, following which the arrest of the accused be made,” he said.
