Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam chairman and managing director Devender Singh said here on Monday that such consumers who qualify for the one-time settlement scheme would be given one-time rebate at the rate of 10% on the bills for the past one year.

If these consumers also opt for the pillar box system and get their electricity meters shifted to pillar boxes, they would be entitled for 10% additional rebate on the bills of past one year.

Singh said the one-time settlement scheme for clearing arrears had been made available in the villages where minimum 50% of the total households had regular connections and meters were installed outside the premises.

Low Voltage Distribution System (LVDS) would be erected in these villages, which may be followed by installation of pillar boxes. The villages which get the pillar box system installed would be given the additional benefit of ensured power supply for 20 to 24 hours.

Besides, defaulters can get the total amount of arrears pertaining to the period before June 16, 2005, waived off under the arrear waiver scheme of 2005. The scheme is available to both disconnected and connected consumers. The amount to be paid by a consumer with one kW load works out to be Rs 1,430 per year.
