Recent advancement in neurobiology discussed

THE SECOND day of the ‘National Symposium on recent advances in neurobiology’ organised by Allahabad University’s (AU) Department of Zoology was a satellite symposium in collaboration with AU’s Centre for Behavioural and Cognitive Science (CBCS).

The first technical session started under the chairmanship of Prof VC Srivastava of AU’s Department of Zoology is which senior scientists of CDRI, Lucknow, Dr Anil Kumar Agarwal presented a lecture on ‘Neural Progenitor Cell Transplantation In Rat Model of Parkinson’s disease : Role of Neurotrophic Factors’.

Dr Agarwal said that the role of Neurotrophies features to improve the disease for short term periods has been proved with experiments on rat.

Prof Mehdi Hasan, Emeritus Professor, Indian National Science Academy, KG Medical University, Lucknow, delivered a lecture in the second session chaired by Prof Anita Gopesh from AU’s Department of Zoology.

Two papers on two aspects of cognitive science were presented by Dr Bhoomika Kar from AU’s CBCS on ‘Cognitive neuroscience: mapping the link between brain and cognition’. Her paper was concentrated on child development. Second paper was delivered by Dr Vinay K Khanna of ITRC Lucknow on ‘Platellets: A useful model to understand bio-chemical alternative in neuropsychatric and neurological disorder’.
