CBI Judge Rekha Dixit today sent DIG Vinod Sharma, head constable of CBI B B Chaube and the other person to judicial custody.

The trio were arrested yesterday by the CBI here. They have moved a bail application, while the CBI sought a police custody for which the court fixed February 28 as the next date of hearing.

The CBI counsel submitted that the roots of the scam were spread throughout a large territory and there is a possibility that a large number of other officers and touts may be involved in it.

At the time of arrest, the CBI team had recovered Rs 3.99 lakh, answer sheets of the recruitment exams of Allahabad, Lucknow and Moradabad from the possession of the accused.

According to a CBI spokesperson, the DIG was allegedly providing information about recruitments and vacancies to his touts, including the head constable, who was having a network of touts in different districts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh.

The CBI team demanded the police custody of the accused so that other evidence may be obtained.
