Whether you are building a new home or revamping your interiors, an effective and cost efficient method is to use mirrors. Mirrors can multitask — from illuminating the dark corners to adding life to a dull and empty wall to creating an illusion of space. “Contemporary, traditional, ornate and transitional mirrors can adorn any place in your house from bathroom to gallery,” says Mukul Goyal, product designer.

“For a classy appeal to your interiors, go for wooden or metal frames with carvings for your mirrors. But for a trendy, modern look, leather frame mirrors are the most desired,” adds Goyal.

Play it well
There are many ways of creatively playing around with mirrors.

A small space can be made to feel larger by incorporating the mirror on one of the walls. Select the longest of the three walls.

For a hallway, using a mirror for the entire wall is expensive. Use a series of mirrors opposite the doorways or windows to get the desired effect.

Multiple mirrors in small bathrooms combined with good light levels can make can a “huge” difference.

Place a mirror across from a source of light such as a window or under a skylight to bring more light into the room.

Multiply the decorative value of accessories by hanging a wall mirror to reflect them.

Hanging a mirror on the wall adjacent to an artwork will both reflect the image of the art and increase the feeling of space.

Paint a wall of the room in a dark hue and hang a decorative mirror on the dark wall to increase the visual depth of the room.
