Repolling was ordered in a booth in Chajjupur village in the district on Monday after the ballot box containing votes polled in the panchayat elections in the region, was found empty during counting, officials said.
On October 28, election officials found the ballot box number 33, with 406 votes in it from Chajjupur to be empty at Navbharat Vidyapeeth Inter College, Partapur, despite the voters having exercised their right.
The ballot papers in the three other ballot boxes from Chajjupur were found in tact.
After receiving a report from the district administration, the State Election Commission ordered repolling on November 2 in the same booth. The polling shall take place from 7 AM to 5 PM.
Meerut Block Election Officer R B Ram also said an FIR would be filed shortly against the polling party and the officers concerned with respect to the missing ballot papers.
Meanwhile, a village in Rohta block in the district elected its chief by lottery after two candidates polled equal number of votes -- 299 each -- despite several recounts.
