In order to speed up trial in the Tarun Tejpal case, the special public prosecutor will request the trial judge to hear the case and conduct the trial on a day-to-day basis and complete it within 60 days of filing the charge sheet, the Goa police said.

Under section 309 (1) of the amended criminal procedure code there is a provision to expedite trial in cases where offences such as rape are involved.
"In this regard, a request will be made by the special public prosecutor before the trial judge," said OP Mishra, deputy inspector general of police.
The victim chose not to undergo a medical test, as is often the procedure in cases of rape or sexual assault. But that is unlikely to make any difference. "It will not make a difference in this case," a police official said.
