Himesh Reshammiya hides many roles under his hat. Music director, singer, now actor and brand ambassador.
The man who began his innings with pedestrian ‘chunariya’ numbers (Odh li chunariya), moved on to item numbers (Mohabbat hai mirchi, Nikamma kiya) and romantic songs (Tere naam), before turning singer with Aashiq banaya aapne, is hungry for more.
In the UK for his first tour of the country, Himesh announced his plans — an HR School of Music, promoting the brand DJ&C and acting. And he begins his acting career with a Rs 100-crore film based on his life, directed by friend Prashant Chadha. To be shot in 18 countries, it will have two leading ladies, one of them rumoured to be model Shivani Kapoor. It goes on the floors in January.
“People have been keen to know why I always lose my beloved in all my music videos. You’ll know the answer when you see my film,” says Himesh. “Prashant, who has directed all my videos, is the only person who could do justice to my debut film,” he adds. And it is a career he intends to take up seriously. “I’ve decided to cut down on projects now.”
Incidentally, Himesh returned signing amounts to 16 producers before coming to London, for he plans to do only three to four movies a year. And the UK tour was preceded by a whirlwind schedule in Switzerland, shooting a teaser with two international models for his film Aap Kaa Surroor — The Movie, The Real Love Story.

He announced a tie-up with the Future Group (Pantaloons and Big Bazaar), for a Mega Music Movement (M3). It will enable Himesh to fulfill his father’s dream, with an HR School of Music in the four metros — the first in Kolkata within two months. “Each metro will have two centres, designed by a famous Italian architect,” Himesh says.
