The Meghalaya Government on Thursday effected a reshuffle of portfolios among the ministers while allocating cabinet berths of community and rural development besides food and civil supplies to Brening A Sangma, who was sworn in as a minister earlier in the day.

Sangma, who was inducted to fill the gap caused by the death of Cyprian R Sangma in a helicopter crash on September 22 last, was also entrusted with the charge of evaluation and weights and measures departments besides the two, an official notification said in Shillong.
In the reshuffle, Chief Minister DD Lapang retained personnel, political, cabinet affairs, planning, industries portfolios but got programme implementation as extra, and divested power department to his deputy.
Deputy Chief Minister Donkupar Roy retained finance, law, non-conventional sources of energy, printing and stationery, revenue and election besides power, departments. He was divested of information and public relations and trade portfolios.
