In an effort to provide an effective intra-city transport system, the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of DLF City has launched its own shuttle service to ferry people to and from various locations within Gurgaon.
The new service, ‘Smart Ride’, launched by the residents’ group has shown the way for the district administration, which has been planning to introduce a bus service for commuters travelling within the city for a long time.
The service has been introduced with two buses on pilot basis, which will be run on all weekends and holidays between 10am and 8pm.
On weekends, the buses would run every half an hour. Initially, the service will be available on two routes.
One route covers AIT Chowk, Belmont, Carlton , ICON, Pinnacle, Golf Course, Mega Mall, Bristol Hotel Chowk, Sahara Mall, MG Road Metro station, JMD, Sikanderpur, and Arjun Marg. Commuters travelling on this route will have to shell out R30 each to travel between any of these stops.
The service on the other route covering Silver Oak-Plaza, DT Mega Mall, Bristol Chowk, Sahara Mall, MG Road Metro station, Central Mall, MGF Metropolitan Mall, JMD Square, Sikanderpur Metro station, Bristol Chowk will cost commuters R25 each irrespective of the distance travelled.

{{/usCountry}}“Commuting in the neighbourhood, particularly to commercial shopping areas, has been a problem in the absence of a comfortable public transport system. Residents are left with no option except autorickshaws or personal cars,” said Sudhir Kapoor, secretary general, DLF City RWA.
Those travelling to and from all five phases of the DLF City as well as the Cyber City area can avail the service.
The Millennium City also has some other transport facilities run by private operators. These include Tuk-Tuk autos, battery-operated soleckshaws, pink autorickshaws for women passengers, and 35 radio autos under the name of Autocall.
Soleckshaws are equipped with a mobile charger, FM radio, magazines, newspapers and a water bottle, while a fleet of 30 blue three-wheelers of Autocall are fitted with the GPS device.
