Some complained that they only received a complaint reference number when they called on this toll-free number. They did not get information about the reason behind the outage or its restoration despite repeated calls.

“On Tuesday, there was no power since 5:30pm. I complained twice, one at 8.30pm (complaint No. 5222) and another at 1.30am (complaint No. 0967), but the call centre did not give a satisfactory reply,” GK Bhatnagar, a resident of South City 2, said.

During the launch of the toll-free number on June 9, a DHBVN spokesperson said, “On dialing this number, an attendant will give the status of power cut; whether it is due to load-shedding or breakdown and when it will be restored. If power failure is due to some local fault, a computerised complaint will be registered.”

Subhash Deswal, superintending engineer, DHBVN, was not available.
