The Punjab and Haryana High Court order restricting the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway maintenance firm from collecting toll from motorists has got an overwhelming response from commuters, traffic police and several resident groups.
"Long queues of vehicles had become a regular scene at the toll plaza. Now, for a fortnight we can have a smooth drive on the expressway," said a motorist.
KS Anand, who lost his son in an accident three years ago on the expressway and had moved court against DGSCL, said he was waiting for this day and "worse was awaiting the toll operator".
The court's order has also come as a big relief for the traffic police. "We have been highlighted the mismanagement of the toll operator for a long time and finally court has given this verdict which will be a boost for all," said Bharti Arora, DCP traffic.
Those living in villages situated at Delhi-Gurgaon border such as Rajokri, Kapashera, Dundehera, Samalkha, Nathupur and Sukhrali also celebrated the court's decision.

{{/usCountry}}According to a DGSCL spokesperson, the company respects the decision of the high court and would discuss the matter with the NHAI and the administration over the next few days to come up with a long-term solution.
