"Complicacies of the issue will further increase with the passage of time, hence resolve the issue expeditiously," the National Conference patron said at the concluding session of a three-day conference on 'Indian Federalism at Work' in Srinagar on Sunday.

Abdullah urged both India and Pakistan to move forward to resolve the issue, saying 'it is getting late'.

"Popular aspirations in Jammu, Ladakh, Gilgat, Baltastan and Kashmir could not be wished away," he said.

He also said his party's demand for 'greater autonomy' was "painted in a wrong way" in India and accused the former BJP-led NDA government of rejecting the autonomy resolution "outrightly without giving it a serious thought".
