Official sources said the unseasonal heavy rains that threw normal life out of gear in the state claimed two lives.

Fishermen, who were evacuated from coastal areas, returned to their homes. However, they did not venture into the sea which was rough.

In Chennai, normal traffic was restored on all main thoroughfares after rainwater receded. However, low lying areas remained waterlogged. The city recorded 10 cm rain in the last 24 hours, ending 8.30 am Thursday.
