Father of slain teenager Aarushi Talwar has approached the Supreme Court seeking a restraint order against a section of media from propagating "irresponsible and uninformed conspiracy theories" about the unsolved murder in Noida two years ago.

The three-page application filed by Dr Rajesh Talwar, through his counsel Jyoti Mendiratta, reads, "Irresponsible and uninformed conspiracy theories being floated by a section of the media with the sole purpose of satisfying the voyeuristic curiosity of the readership and viewership".

According to Dr Talwar, the reckless reporting is continuing despite an earlier SC order asking the media to exercise caution in publishing news regarding the case.

"However, despite the order and the sentiments expressed by the court, both the print as well as the electronic media is obdurately and disdainfully continuing with their reckless whodunit speculative reportage," states the application.

Talwar has stated that the reporting is not only prejudicing the ongoing investigation in the case but is also a complete disregard to the reputation of the families connected with the case. The application is likely to come up for hearing next week.

Aarushi was found dead with her throat slit at her home in Noida on May 16, 2008. Talwars' domestic help Hemraj too was found murdered the next day.
