A retired subedar of the Indian Army has been nabbed by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) from Jhansi district on charges of working as an ISI agent, the police said on Monday.
The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is Pakistan’s spy agency.
“The ATS team nabbed Indra Singh Kushwaha, a native of Banda district from Sadar Bazar crossing last night,” IG (Law and Order) Amrendra Singh Sengar said.
“They also recovered two compact discs (CD) containing important information from his house following interrogation.”
The IG added the CD had war plans of the army, contact numbers of military officers and those involved in development of the Arjun tank.
Sengar said Kushwaha came in contact with ISI agents in 2011 during his posting in Siliguri (West Bengal).
"The ATS got a tip-off that the ISI was getting information through an agent Jhansi. During investigation, it was revealed that the person was retired subedar Kushwaha, who used to send information from a internet cafe in Sadar Bazar area of Jhansi," he said.
According to Sengar, Kushwaha told the ATS he had worked as assistant to army officers and was aware of secret information, which he used to pass on to the ISI for money.

The IG said the ISI had allegedly transferred money to his bank accounts and to prevent any doubt the amount did not exceed Rs 50,000.
“The ATS suspects Kushwaha had a number of bank accounts. A detailed inquiry is underway.”
