Does Neil Nitin Mukesh have any more than the one-and-a-half expressions we’ve seen so far — the cold, piercing unsmiling look and the cold, piercing half-smile? On the basis of the evidence so far, no.
But he offers such welcome relief from the standard-issue mushy chocolate-box heroes that you don’t really mind, even if the most romantic he gets in Aa Dekhen Zara is a curt, unsmiling ‘I love you’.
It’s that kind of movie. And it’s tailor-made for N2M, just as Johnny Gadaar was. Here, he plays photographer Ray Acharya, whose grandfather bequeaths him a magic camera that can tell the future. If you can handle that, sit back and dig into the popcorn.
After Ray has saved a couple of lives, including that of his sultry neighbour Simi Chatterjee (Bipasha Basu), he gets on to the serious business of making money. For, he knows which stock is going to shoot up tomorrow, which horse will win at the races and which number will turn up crores at the lottery.
But the dark forces are on to him. And a cat-and-mouse game ensues. To add some fizz to the concoction, the camera predicts shutters down for Ray. Can he hoodwink death? Save his camera? Keep his girlfriend — and the money? You know he will, of course — he’s the hero, yaar.

N2M takes over the movie as he sings, acts and dances; Bipasha Basu is hotter than ever and Rahul Dev adds a neat cameo as the baddie who wants to get his hands on that camera. Director Jehangir Surti takes his time telling his story and the pace flags here and there, but what the hell, make the most of the ride.
