The book Marrying Anita: A Quest for Love in the New India is her journey from New York city (where she apparently gets frustrated with commitment phobic people) to New Delhi to find a husband.
It is the reverse journey her father had taken more than three decades earlier, when he left his homeland for America in search of better job opportunities. Anita, on the other hand, comes back to India for what she hopes would have better dating opportunities.
Marrying Anita is a book, which is not only about her encounters with the suitable grooms, but also about the modern India; its ambitious youngsters, booming economy and changing mindset of people living in Delhi, where she discovers youngsters like her who live life on their own terms.
Despite a Harvard University graduate and been brought abroad she doesn’t find any difference in her and the people she meets in this modern India. Written from an NRI's prespective, this book also peeps into the life of NRI families, their family values, tension, insecurities and ambitions.
