The opposition in Maharashtra on Thursday dubbed the state government’s decision to reconsider the rejected Adarsh housing scam report, which has found fault with several Congress chief ministers, an ‘eyewash’.

It has announced its decision to approach the Bombay high court on the matter.

It has also intensified its demand for CM Prithviraj Chavan’s resignation.

“Today’s decision is an eyewash and an attempt to fool the people of Maharashtra. We once again demand his resignation,” leader of opposition in the legislative assembly Eknath Khadse said.

Vinod Tawde, leader of the opposition in the legislative council, said this decision was an attempt to hoodwink the people and the Nationalist Congress Party has furthered this attempt by supporting the Congress.

“By not indicting politicians, the Congress has accepted the report only partially and showed it never intended to take action. We will be taking the legal recourse and approaching the high court in this regard,” Tawde said.

The housing society was meant for war widows and soldiers who had been physically crippled or maimed in combat. Instead, the apartments were grabbed by senior army officials, politicians and bureaucrats.
