Orthodox Muslim opinion will pressure the Union government to revitalise the judicial process to see if Sangh leaders such as L.K. Advani had a role in the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992.
The demolition issue is likely to figure prominently in the All India Muslim Personal Law Board’s (AIMPLB’s) executive committee meeting in Aurangabad, 390 km west of Mumbai, on June 6.
The issue has assumed significance in view of the May 20 decision of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court giving relief to senior saffron leaders such as Advani, Kalyan Singh, Bal Thackeray and 18 others.
The Bench upheld the Lucknow CBI court order dropping charges of complicity against them in the Babri demolition.
The AIMPLB has planned to press the Congress-led Union government to direct the CBI to move the Supreme Court on the issue.
Senior advocate and AIMPLB executive committee member Zafaryab Jilani told Hindustan Times on Wednesday that the CBI should move the apex court in the matter. He said so far the role of the CBI in the Babri Masjid demolition case had not been
effective.

{{/usCountry}}Jilani also asked the Uttar Pradesh government to club the two demolition cases, pending in courts of Rae Bareli and Lucknow.
While the conspiracy case involving BJP leaders is pending in a special court in Rae Bareli, the demolition case against karsevaks (Ram temple activists) is held up in a Lucknow court.
