MP CHIEF Justice A K Patnaik called on the affluent classes of the society to come forward and donate their part of income for the development of facilities that could benefit common people in the City and the State.
He was delivering a keynote address at the function organised to mark the bhumi pujan for construction of two new operation theatres at M Y Hospital this evening. The operation theatres with facility for minimal invasive surgery would be
constructed with funds from State Government and Anand Mohan Mathur Charitable Trust that would pool in about Rs 40 lakh. The construction will be completed within eight months.
In his address, the Chief Justice expressed concern over growing craze to earn voraciously without lending a penny for social welfare. Propounding the Gandhian ideal for trusteeship, he said that people should remember that they are citizens too besides being consumers.
Commending the endeavours of Trust, senior journalist Abhay Chhajlani drew attention towards large number of dilapidated Government schools and desolate public garden lands that need similar restoration.

{{/usCountry}}Divisional Commissioner Ashok Das said that the 1,169-bed hospital, which receives poor patients from 14 districts of Indore and Ujjain division, also has facilities for quality research in medical science. “M Y receives patients refused by other hospitals.
The doctors and nurses who work round the clock, therefore need public sympathy and support,” he said and appealed people to come forward for betterment of the deprived sections of society. Informing about the project, Dr Rajkumar Mathur said that two OTs would be fully equipped and centralised surgery units.
He added that they would also be equipped for routine surgeries. Trust founder Anand Mohan Mathur and social worker Babulal Patodi, who presided over the function, too expressed their views on the occasion.
