BHARTIYA JAN Kalyan Samiti members held a demonstration outside Vidhan Bhawan on Sunday against rising prices of vegetables in the State.

Association president Imran Khan Bhartiya said rising prices had deprived the common man of adequate food. He said if the condition remained the same, the common man would be compelled to eat only salt and rice. In a memorandum addressed to the chief minister, Khan demanded that prices be brought under control. He said the first step in this direction would be to eliminate middlemen from vegetable mandis.

“The State has enough foodgrains and vegetables, but a few middlemen are attempting to hike the prices by creating an artificial shortage,” he said.
