RJD today made an appeal to the Maoists to release four policemen from their captivity on humanitarian ground.

"Like you, the policemen in your captivity too belong to poor families and are discharging their duties to sustain their families," RJD spokespersons Ram Kripal Yadav and Shakeel Ahmed Khan said.

"Your eyes must have welled up after hearing the cries of the kin of the kidnapped cops and various health problems suffered by some of their family members upon learning about the kidnapping," they said.

The Maoists had kidnapped Sub-Inspectors Rupesh Kumar and Abhay Prasad Yadav, BMP Havildar Ehtesham Khan and BMP ASI Lucas Tete after an encounter from Karja police station area in Lakhisarai district on August 30 last.
