Armed robbers barged into a businessman's house in east Delhi's Farsh Bazar, held the family hostage and shot at a 14-year-old boy when he tried to raise an alarm.
They also injured another 16-year-old boy while fleeing. The incident took place at the first floor house of Manoj Tayal, who runs a factory in east Delhi.
"At 1.30 pm, there was a knock on the Tayals' door. Tayal's wife and her three children were sleeping. When Shaan, her elder son, opened the door, two armed robbers barged into the house and held the family hostage," said a relative, who did not want to be named. Family sources said that the robbers stayed in the house for nearly an hour.
"After Shaan opened the door, the robbers first asked for Manoj Tayal. When he said that his father was not in the house, they pushed him inside and one of them held the whole family hostage at gun point. Meanwhile, the second robber started ransacking the house," he further said.
When Shaan's younger brother Priyanshu started screaming for help, one of the robbers fired a bullet, which hit him near the head. Shaan was also beaten up by the robbers.

{{/usCountry}}Priyanshu was rushed to a private hospital, where his condition is said to be critical. "We have registered a case of robbery and various teams have been formed to trace the robbers. We are hopeful to solve the case at the earliest," said Prabhakar, DCP (east).
A forensic team has collected fingerprints and other evidence from the spot. Police have also taken the statement of neighbours and are trying to prepare a sketch of the robbers.
"No one saw them coming in, so it was not clear whether they came on bike or a four-wheeler. But it appears to be the handiwork of someone who knows the owner," a senior police officer said.
Police have asked the owner to provide details of the workers at his factory.
