Life is one big party for Malini Ramani or that is what she meant to say through her collection at the India Fashion Week on Wednsday. The Delhi-based designer successfully lived up to her own image of a 'rockstar'!
Unlike last year's theme, where the designer portrayed women as spoilt brats, this year, Malini's put them on an island beach as they rocked the ramp in sizzling beach wear! "Explore the universe with me," as the designer puts it.
The clothes interpreted 60's look in a very modern way. The show was divided into three segments.
BRUNCH WITH A RETRO CHIC
First segment was titled 'Brunch' that comprised of very wearable retro outfits for the uber cool woman.
The silhouettes were pretty much western comprising of hip hugging kurtis with chic slits in all vibrant colours possible ranging from hot pinks to vibrant greens.
Models sashayed on ramp wearing lycra hipsters teamed up with short zipper jackets that had sequin embellishments. The designer blended the hues really well as the colour palette comprised of fuschia pinks, bottle greens, cherry red, etc.
From capris to tube tops, Malini’s collection had it all. Cropped pants with balloon tubes, bikinis with hood jumpers, short dresses with long slits looked perfect for day wear. Also, displayed were pleated skirts. Fabrics used were chiffons, silks and lycra.

Malini had used specific colours for all three segments. For sunset, she had used lot of burnt oranges, laughing yellows, pearl whites and dull pinks. The silhouettes were very hip.

AFTER PARTY
The party may be over, but for Malini the look was still chic and flirty. In this segment, models flaunted strappy one-piece dresses with loads of mukaish work on them. Colours palette had ivory, bottle green, cherry red and onion pink.
Ramani’s theme flowed pretty well. Beginning from natural day-wear creations to evening separates that looked oh-so sultry and irresistible. The show started on a loud note and gradually took a subdued turn.
The designer, who is crazy about vibrant hues, made sure she incorporated some in her own label. Ranging from hot fuschias to burning oranges, Malini's line had it all.
