Desi rock n' roll with a fair amount of flesh, jewel tones and high glamour capture the essence of the Rocky S shows. As promised, it had all the right ingredients - verve, vivacity and variety.
The collection was trademark Rocky - young, free spirited, in your face, and very sexy. Leather jackets with contemporary strapped up detailing, layered gold lame skirts, flared striped pants, trendy overprinted shirts, miniscule hot pants, and flirty sensuous dresses. These were embellished with wacky overprints, rhinestones in colours like magenta, red and orange, feather fringes and fur.
The colours were warm, and included reds, maroons, browns and plenty of gold. Distressed and otherwise reworked fabrics added incredible textures, as did the use of dull gold sequin encrusted fabric made into dresses, halter blouses, and skirts.
The great thing about Rocky is that his clothes are extremely wearable. Even embroidered belts, which have been around for a couple of years, acquired a whole new dimension in the designer's able hands.
The men's line however bordered dangerously close on the feminine and the detailing on T-shirts appeared a bit too excessive. Rocky admits there might be a problem. According to him: "I will tone down the embroidery for the prêt line.'
