DISTRICT MAGISTRATE Rajiv Agarwal said that the role of citizens was very much significant in the process of development.

He was delivering a lecture on ‘Development Administration and the Role of District Magistrate: A Case Study of Varanasi’ at Arts Faculty auditorium in Banaras Hindu University here on Monday.
Political Science Department of Banaras Hindu University had organised the programme.
The DM said that administration plays the role of facilitator or coordinator in the process of development and said that an administrator should be sensitive towards the problems of common people.
Speaking about the responsibilities of an administrator, he said, besides facilitators, the responsibilities of an administrator could be divided into
four categories such as general, revenue, criminal and development.
The district magistrate called upon the common people to extend their support against corrupt practices in the society.
He also shared his experience with the students. He replied the queries of participants over mode of development and how to arrest corruption.
Head of Political Science Department, Prof Anjoo Sharan Upadhyay presided over the lecture and welcomed the guests whereas Prof RP Singh proposed vote of thanks.
