Before giving the green signal for the demolition drive, the government should arrange alternative shelters for slum-dwellers.

Floored by the court

With reference to the report SC hammer on 3rd floor dreams (May 7), Delhi does not have enough water, electricity, parking space or garbage collection facilities.

The apex court should not allow mixed land-use of roads. In many residential areas, hoardings have been put up and new commercial constructions have come up in recent times. The court should issue directions to remove all such hoardings.

Sporting spirit

It is disgusting that out of the two pages earmarked for sports (May 6), one full page has been given to cricket when there are no matches in progress. Sadly, not a single word has been written about the ongoing Sultan Azlan Shah Cup for men’s hockey, in which the Indian team is playing.

Think before saying

Sheila Dikshit should be provided with the data of the top taxpayers of Bihar, UP and other states. Sadly, her statement about Biharis and people from UP is merely an attempt to cover up her failure to provide basic amenities to people in Delhi.
