Roy appointed as Maharashtra ACB chief

Senior IPS officer AN Roy has been appointed as chief of the Anti Corruption Bureau. The post was lying vacant following S Chakravarty's retirement in June.

Senior IPS officer AN Roy has been appointed as chief of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). The post was lying vacant following S Chakravarty's retirement in June.

Roy was awaiting a posting since he returned from leave after a High Court ruling led to his exit as state police chief. The state government later appointed SS Virk as state police chief.

Senior IPS officials Himanshu Roy, S Ramanand and Ashutosh Dumbre have also been transferred, Mantralaya sources said.

Himanshu Roy, Additional Commissioner of Police (South region) will be the new Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).

The 1988 batch officer replaces KL Prasad, who has been appointed Commissioner of the State Intelligence Department.

Ramanand, additional Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) has been put in charge of anti-naxalite operations.

The government has stepped up anti-naxal operations in Gadchiroli, Chandrapur and Nagpur.

Dumbre, additional commissioner of police (ACB) would take over as additional commissioner (Special Branch).
